Wow who would have thought that we would see the Southern Lights here in the Western Bay of Plenty. I had been watching developments on Aurora Reach app and as the sun went down I popped outside with my iPhone and Pop! What a pretty sky. I was so excited and despite being under the weather (not knowing I had Covid) I ventured out with my camera down to the Omokoroa Esplanade and wasn’t disappointed. I had read that you often can’t see the Aurora by the naked eye. Cameras let in more light than the naked eye and wow I was astounded. My main camera setting was f2.8 2.5s 15mm. I had my ISO too high so edited in Lightroom by adjusting exposure and removing noise. Happy with the results I'm hooked!
The one above is my first sight over Omokoroa Esplanade with Iphone 14pro!
The one below is with my Canon R5 after adjustments. I've had this printed in A4 on Metallic paper and its awesome!
